How can I deal with this insomnia?

I have had an issue for a while now with insomnia. I am not under any stress and am not suffering from depression. I can’t reckon of any reason as to why I can’t sleep except that my bed is uncomfortable. I can’t afford a new mattress, what can I do so that I can sleep, it is effecting my work. Please offer me some advice.
